   Enhanced Recycling and Waste Service    17 November, 2014

From 1 December 2014, most residents will be able to recycle an even wider range of materials from the convenience of their homes, using Tandridge District Council's (TDC) recycling and waste collection service. 

From that date TDC, in partnership with Biffa, will collect textiles (including shoes), small electrical items and batteries every week, in special additional housing being added to existing collection vehicles.

TDC would like to encourage residents to recycle more, send less waste to landfill and help generate additional income, to help keep the pressure on council tax rates down.

   POPULAR GARDEN WASTE SERVICE EXTENDED    7 June, 2014

From 1 June, Biffa, acting as agent for Tandridge District Council, has taken over the running of the district’s garden waste service. It will be integrated into Biffa’s Green Waste Club, launched in 2005 and now providing a service to over 36,000 customers in five local council areas.

   Community Improvements Fund 14/15 now open to applicants    30 May, 2014

The Community Improvements Fund for 14/15 is now open to applicants. The fund has been set up to support local community based initiatives which make a real difference to people's lives.  Bids to the fund can be submitted for requests between £10,000 and £30,000 from 6 May until 25 July 2014.  The funding is intended primarily to cover capital costs linked to community infrastructure projects.

Rural theft cost the UK an estimated £42.3m in 2012 and can have far reaching consequences for urban communities in terms of the food chain, deliveries and supermarket prices.  According to the NFU the top three targeted items in Surrey in 2012 were tools, oil/diesel and garden equipment.

   Young worker scheme launched    16 January, 2014

Tandridge District Council is launching a Young Worker Scheme to provide young people aged between 18 and 24 with a minimum of six months paid work experience. Aimed at those who are unemployed and living in the district, the placements will give young people the essential training, skills and experience they need to help them gain employment.
